How it works

Use a definite article for an identifiable noun and an indefinite article to introduce an item. Match the noun’s gender and number. Noun gender is supplied in the exercise support; you do not need to guess it.

MeaningMasculineFeminine

plural: theloslas
singular: a/anununa
plural: someunosunas

See it in a sentence

Necesito una silla.

I need a chair.

Silla is feminine; una introduces one chair without identifying a particular one.

Busco el libro nuevo. El libro nuevo está en la mesa.

I am looking for the new book. The new book is on the table.

The book is already identified, so El refers back to that book.
