How it works
Swedish present-tense verbs do not change for person or number. Group 1 adds -r to an infinitive in -a, giving -ar. The regular group-2 verbs practised here replace infinitive -a with -er. Group 3 adds -r to the infinitive. The group is supplied in exercises; not every Swedish verb follows these patterns. Unlike English, Swedish does not add a special ending for “he” or “she”. The same form works with “I”, “she” and “they”.
Group 1: infinitive + r. Regular group 2 here: remove final a, add er. Group 3: infinitive + r.
| Pattern | Infinitive | Present |
|---|---|---|
| Group 1 | prata | pratar |
| Group 2 | tycka | tycker |
| Group 3 | bo | bor |
